In English, a folly is an ornamental building, historically commissioned by the rich and famous as a show of opulence, to be displayed proudly in a grand garden. This frivolity earned itself the playful name, deriving from the Old French ‘folie’, meaning ‘madness’. This new Cole & Son collection of the same name is inspired by the architecture and exoticism seen in the lavish grounds enjoyed by the French nobility.
